My Spread the Word, Win a Prize (Maybe) contest comes to an end as of Wednesday, June 1. If you liked my book Chocolate & Vicodin: My Quest for Relief from the Headache that Wouldn’t Go Away you still have time to tweet it, blog it, email it, and stuff it down all your social media pipelines via the contest page for a chance to win an iPod Shuffle or a gift card to Amazon or iTunes.
Now that I’ve pimped that we can continue to my unabashed pimping of my friends’ projects…
One of my web design clients, Sara, is looking for volunteers and/or donations for the Fresh Air Fund this summer. The program matches host families in the American northeast with inner-city kids to give them a summer experience in the country or suburbs. I know kids tend to be more inactive in neighborhoods where there isn’t a place for them to play or it isn’t safe to do so. This experience sounds like great fun for them! (Of course, this is coming from the girl whose summer camp memories mostly revolve around s’mores. Mmmm, s’mores.) Learn more on the Fresh Air Fund web site. They’re looking for volunteers up until August.
Carla, aka MizFit, recently put together a couple training programs for people who don’t have much time to work out. They come in a package of six cards. There’s one for work and one to burn 100 calories.
Carla says, “I really adored one on one personal training, but the cost (even in a group setting) can be out of reach for many people. I wanted to come up with a way to convey to people what *I* do for workouts (Im frequently asked), a circuit workout that can be made more or less challenging (changing positions or adding resistance bands or weights) and can be carried easily for travel or, well, just LIFE ON THE GO!”
